Lake Bridgeport

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 9)

GOOD. Water slightly stained; 65 degrees; 9.18 feet below pool. Sand bass and hybrids are making their way back into the main lake after the spawn. Start checking the main lake structure for fish. You may still find some fish spawning here and there, especially around wind blown points or sandy flats. Slabs, soft plastics and crankbaits will put them in the boat. The crappie spawn is in full swing. Start checking shallow water stickups with jigs, or a minnow and bobber combination. The southern end should be quite good in the days to come. Catfish are good on cut bait, start looking for these fish on main lake structures as they get ready for their spawn. Largemouth bass are also into their spawn. Check quiet coves with cover. The usual baits should be effective. Soft plastics, spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. All ramps are open. Report by Keith Bunch, Lake Bridgeport Guide Service.
