Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 5)

GOOD. Water stained; 52 degrees; 8.95 feet below pool. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Fish are in prespawn mode around and under docks and channels close to large coves. These fish have not been deep. Catfish remain good on cut bait, especially in the northern end. Blue catfish have been the most active. Hybrids and sand bass are fair on soft plastics and slabs. Deep water near the mid lake structure has been holding suspended fish. Deadsticking bait is the best bet to catch them. Largemouth bass are also in prespawn mode. Check deeper water near known spawning areas. Deep water crankbaits and jig and pigs are a good place to start. Report by Keith Bunch, Lake Bridgeport Guide Service.
